Transcript of the Armorial Bearings of The Royal Australasian College of Radiologists

TO ALL AND SINGULAR to whom these Presents shall come, Sir Anthony Richard Knight, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Clarenceux King of Arms and Aubrey John Toppin, Esquire, Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Norroy and Ulster King of Arms, Send Greeting! WHERE AS Ernest Reginald Crisp, Gentleman, President of the College of Radiologists of Australasia, hath represented unto Thee Most Noble Bernard Marmaduke, Duke of Norfolk, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, Earl .Marshal and Hereditary Marshal of England and One of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council that the College of Radiologists of Australasia originally called the Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiology and subsequently successively named the Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiologists and the College of Radiologists(Australia and New Zealand)was duly incorporated on the Sixth day of February, 1935 under the Companies Act of the State of New South Wales in the Commonwealth of Australia, being a Company limited by Guarantee, having as its main or principal object the promotion and encouragement of and provision for the advancement of the study of the Science of Radiology both diagnostic and therapeutic and of allied sciences, and the carrying out of research and experimental work in connection with the same, and the encouragement of the study and improvement of the practice of Radio logy. That the control and management of the affairs of the College are conducted by and invested in a Council which Council is desirous of having Armorial Ensigns duly assigned to the said College under lawful authority and he therefore, on behalf of the said Council, hath requested the favour of His Grace's Warrant for Our granting and assigning such Armorial .Bearings and in the same Patent such Supporters as may be proper to be borne and used by the College of Radiologists of Australasia on its Common Seal or otherwise the whole according to the Laws of Arms. AND FORASMUCH as the said Earl Marshal did by Warrant under his hand and seal bearing the date the Twenty second day of June last authorize and direct Us to grant and assign such Armorial Bearings and such Supporters accordingly. KNOW YE THEREFORE that We the said Garter, Clarenceux and Norroy and Ulster in pursuance of His Grace's Warrant and by virtue of the Letters Patent of Our several Offices to each of Us respectively granted do by these Presents grant and assign unto the COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGISTS OF AUSTRALASIA the Arms following that is to say:- Vert a Saltire Gringolee Argent square pierced Vert the Serpents heads Or between four Mullets each of six points Argent And for the Crest On a Wreath Or, Sable and Vert A Torch Gules enflamed proper enfiled through a Crown Rayonny Or supported by two Cubit Arms and dexter carnat the sinister skeletal proper, Mantled Gules and Vert, doubled Or, as the same are in the margin hereof plainly depicted, And by the authority aforesaid I the said Garter do by these Presents further grant and assign unto the COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGISTS OF AUSTRALASIA the Supporters following that is to say" On the dexter side a Lynx Gyles gorged with a chaplet of Silver Fern proper and on the sinister side a male Griffin Gules armed beaked tufted rayed and the ears lined Or gorged with a chaplet of Wattle flowered proper as the same are also in the margin hereof more plainly depicted the whole to be borne and used for ever hereafter by the College of Radiologists of Australasia on its Common Seal or otherwise according to the Laws of Arms. IN WITNESS whereof We the said Garter, Clarenceux and Norroy and Ulster Kings of Arms have to these Presents subscribed Our names and affixed the Seals of Our several Offices this Second day of September in the Thirteenth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Common wealth. Defender of the Faith and in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and sixty four.

Pathway for Admission to Fellowship for Long Standing Educational Affiliates
A new process leading to College Fellowship is currently under review for those radiologists and radiation oncologists (usually being College Educational Affiliates) who obtained their specialist qualifications overseas and who already have either: (i) full specialist recognition (specialist registration in Australia); or (ii) registration within a vocational scope of practice (in New Zealand).
TGA Alert: Serious adverse events identified in Queensland with the use of Peripherally Inserted Cen
The TGA has issued a web alert in relation to a particular peripherally-inserted Central Venous Catheter (PICC) following complications reported in a small number of cases in Queensland when parts of a guide wire used to install the device remained within the patient.
Australian Government Funding to Practices for Quality Initiatives
Minister Roxon has advised the College that funds underspent at the expiry of the MoUs for Radiology, Cardiac Imaging, Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound and Nuclear Imaging will be reimbursed to practices through a new Diagnostic Imaging Quality Practice Program.
