The discovery of X-rays in 1895 by the German scientist Wilhelm Röntgen gave rise to the fledgling science of radiology.

Trainor/Owen Collection
The Trainor/Owen Collection is named after JP Trainor (1890-1971), manufacturer of X-ray and electromedical apparatus, and Dr Morris Owen (1917-2004), radiologist and long-serving Keeper of the Archives.
