2009 CPD Program

The program format of monthly educational meetings has been in place for a number of years. Workplace changes have led to greater demands on each radiologist’s time making it increasingly difficult to attend the meetings, and in response to comments and suggestions, the program has been modified for 2009. The new format will consist of five meetings with the dates set as below:

24 February
31 March
26 & 26 July (ASM & AGM)
29 September
24 November

Four meetings are to be held at the usual time and place. A new weekend meeting of members, with multiple presenters and presentations. The weekend meeting will also include the annual dinner. The tradition of registrar presentations will continue to be held at the beginning and end of each year. I trust the new format will go some way to responding to the membership concerns, maintaining the educational opportunities.

CPD Program for Rural Fellows

The Victorian Branch has been instrumental in facilitating innovative CPD programs for Rural Fellows. Through funding from the Support Scheme for Rural Specialists, a joint initiative of the Commonwealth of Health and Ageing and the Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges, the RANZCR provides four state of the art programs that give rural and regional specialists the same opportunities as their city colleagues to meet, discuss cases and at the same time add to their CPD points. These programs are coordinated by the Victorian Branch on behalf of the College and the Faculty of Radiation Oncology:

  • Case reviews from the Alfred Hospital Radiology Team
  • RANZCR Victorian Branch Monthly Scientific Meetings
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Videoconference Series “Current Issues in Oncology for Medical Specialists”
