[ Search/Browse Listing ]

Please note: The information contained in this directory may not be current. We are in the process of developing a new system which will allow more efficient updates of information. If you need assistance in locating a radiation oncology department or practice, please contact the College on + 61 2 9268 9777.

A radiation oncologist is a medical graduate who has undergone extensive post-graduate training in all aspects of cancer patient care, and who has specific expertise in the use of radiation as a treatment for cancer and related diseases. All radiation oncologists listed in this directory have been certified through examination by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and are entitled to use the letters FRANZCR.

Radiation, alone or in combination with other forms of treatment, is an effective means of curing many cancers or, when cure is not possible, of relieving pain and suffering. Radiation oncologists work in close collaboration with other cancer specialists (surgeons and medical oncologists), often as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Some radiation oncologists maintain broad competence in the treatment of all forms of cancer while others focus their practice in particular areas of interest.

This listing is of self-declared areas of special interest by Fellows who have chosen to have the information made available in this manner. The special interest area(s) under which Fellows list will usually, but not always, indicate their principal area(s) of practice. Fellows who do not subspecialise are listed as generalists.

All treatment by radiation oncologists requires a referral being made from another medical practitioner.
