This Committee is the group responsible for developing policy focused
on improving the quality of the delivery of radiotherapy and radiation
oncology.
This will be done by monitoring new technologies and approaches to treatment
and providing advice to Fellows and others about standards of practice
and the integration of quality improvement into the Faculty's departmental
accreditation program.
Specifically, this involves:
- Being responsible for overseeing the development of the departmental
accreditation program
- Reviewing guidelines developed by special interest groups prior to
publication
- Being the expert body for advice to the Faculty board and other committees
regarding standards of practice with specific reference to published
guidelines (internal/NBCC/NHMRC and others)
- Undertaking investigations and providing advice on best practice of
specific areas as they arise (e.g prostate seed brachytherapy, patient
records)
- Providing advice to the Faculty Board and its committees in regard
to applications under MSAC and similar.
- Initiating and monitoring quality improvement projects (i.e. ACHS
indicators, AIMS, dosimetry)
- Monitoring new technologies in Radiation Oncology.
