The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists’ responsibilities include:

  • conducting specialist medical training and assessment in the fields of diagnostic and interventional radiology and radiation oncology, and
  • facilitating and engaging in public discussion about matters impacting on the above areas of medical practice, and on the availability of radiology and radiation oncology services to the Australian and New Zealand communities.

The College works collaboratively with governments, government bodies and regulatory agencies on matters of mutual interest, such as training, workforce, quality, safety and accreditation. Bodies we work with include: The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, the New Zealand Ministry of Health, state health departments, the Australian Medical Workforce Advisory Council, the Australian Medical Council, state medical boards, the Medical Council of New Zealand, the Australian Radiation Protection and Safety Agency and the National Radiation Laboratory (New Zealand).

Breast Imaging Research Fellowships
The Cancer Institute NSW Breast Imaging Fellowship Program, valued at up to $142,156 per annum, is designed to provide six to twelve months of in-depth training and possible research assistance for newly qualified radiologist*. This program aims to further support breast cancer diagnosis improvement, research and best practice.
