Council Structure
Members of Council are elected for three-year terms and are eligible to serve a maximum of three such terms. This section provides information on the composition of Council and the Executive of Council.
Under the Articles, nomination for election to Council must be sent to each Fellow not later than the fourth Friday in May, in each year in which an election is necessary, and the prescribed process concludes with the closure of the ballot at 2.00 pm on the fourth Monday in July. The successful candidates are announced at the Colleges' Annual General Meeting in October and take office on the following 1 January.

The President is elected by Council from the Councillors at a meeting held not later than 31 August each year.
The President holds office for two years from 1 January following his/her appointment. A Fellow who serves as President is not eligible to be elected to Council or to remain as a Councillor after the expiration of his/her term as President.
The Treasurer and the Chair of the Education Board are appointed by Council from the Councillors at the last Council meeting in each calendar year. Both are appointed for one-year terms and are eligible for re-appointment to those positions.
The Dean, Faculty of Radiation Oncology is appointed by Council at the last Council meeting in a calendar year on the recommendation of the Faculty Board and holds office in accordance with the Faculty By laws.

Two other members of Council elected by the Councillors at the last meeting of the Council each year. At least one member of the Executive of Council must be a member of the New Zealand Branch.
Council may delegate to the Executive of Council the supervision of the day-to-day business of the College and any other function the Council thinks fit. Minutes of meetings of the Executive of Council are required to be provided to each member of Council within 14 days of every such meeting.
