OTDs - Area of Need

AREA OF NEED POSITIONS IN RADIOLOGY & RADIATION ONCOLOGY

The Area of Need (AoN) process aims to meet gaps in radiology service delivery, primarily in rural and remote areas, due to the inability of employers, whether in the public or private sectors, to attract locally trained specialists into positions.

The College has developed a manual to provide information to applicants, employers and assessors about the assessment processes associated with Radiology and Radiation Oncology Area of Need positions.

The main aim of the assessment process is to determine the applicant's suitability for the specified position, in a designated Area of Need (AoN).

The manual has been prepared to enable applicants to undertake appropriate preparations and includes:

  • The procedures the employer/applicant must follow
  • The documents that must accompany an application
  • The document verification and assessment process followed by the College
  • The Recommendation options

The Application Manual and other associated documents are available to download below.

The Radiology Area of Need assessment dates for 2008 are as follows:

  • January 30 & 31
  • March 12 & 13
  • May 28 & 29
  • July 23 & 24
  • September 24 & 25
  • November 12 & 13

For Radiation Oncology assessments, please contact Seiko Tanaka at ots@ranzcr.edu.au to arrange.

All Area of Need assessments are conducted at the College office in Sydney.
