Practice Accreditation - Overview

RANZCR/NATA Accreditation Program for Medical Imaging Practices

Program Overview
In 1997 The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) began developing a program to enhance the quality of practices offering medical imaging services. The program has been developed in three stages: Stages 1 and 2 involved Registration and Stage 3 involves Accreditation. Applications for Stage 3 Accreditation became available in May 2004. (more General Information and History of the Program…).

Stage 3 Information and Resources
Click here for a list of important Stage 3 Accreditation information and resources (including accreditation requirements package, standards and guidelines, application forms, fee schedules, additional information for Mammography, MRI and Interventional Radiology sites) and how to obtain them.

Administration
The administration of the Accreditation Program will be managed jointly between RANZCR and NATA. All matters relating to professional and technical requirements, including radiation safety, equipment standards and image review protocols, will be handled within the College through the existing internal processes.

The Standards of Practice & Accreditation Committee (SPAC, formerly the AGGQC) will remain the focal point for all matters relating to accreditation and will provide linkages with all other stakeholders and external organisations.
