Academic Radiologists Group

Aims:

  • To conduct and develop strategies to foster and sustain research in radiology within Australia and New Zealand.
  • To network and advise of current projects.
  • To develop innovative teaching and management

Who is involved
Convenor Peter Scally
The Group has a steering committee of eight, and has thirty members on the email list.

How can interested parties become involved?
Let the group know of your interests so that other researchers can exchange ideas and collaborate.
Come to the breakfast meeting at the ASM.

When does the Academic Radiology Group meet
At a breakfast meeting at the Annual Scientific meeting where the committee welcomes attendance of everyone interested in the challenges of academic radiology. Radiologists from public hospitals, teaching institutions, and commercial radiology practices are welcome.

Exchange of ideas about research, teaching, and management
Recommendations to the college council

Links are being sought with the Association of University Radiologists (AUR) of the USA.

By national agreement, all jurisdictions have introduced consistent assessment and registration pathways for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in addition to the existing Australian Medical Council (AMC) examination pathway.

RANZCR has written to the Department of Health and Ageing calling for a moratorium on business arrangements between specialists and radiologists regarding ownership of imaging facilities.
Communication in Medical Imaging, and Critical Test Results
