Radiology
The need for skills in radiology research complements our adoption of the CanMEDS model (The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s model of the seven roles of a doctor) not only in our new radiology training program but in our College learning and development framework. The CanMEDS model identifies the role of medical expert as central to the work of a radiologist while the six other roles of Scholar (ie. Researcher), Professional, Communicator, Collaborator, Manager and Health Advocate are intended to encompass all aspects of the radiology profession.
Why Radiology Research?
Radiologists recognise the importance of participating in and encouraging life-long learning with the goal of continuously improving his or her mastery of the discipline.
Research Opportunities and Publications
Research opportunities are available from a number of different institutions/organisations throughout Australasia, the Americas and Europe.
Research Requirements for Training
Two research projects are mandatory in the current five year training program.
