Educational Development

In our pursuit of excellence and best practice with respect to educating our trainees, the College is commencing several new projects.

Educational Best Practice
  • Implementation of a Learning and Development Framework for Fellows and trainees. Completed July 2011.
  • Training Needs Analysis to assist in understanding the needs/desires of our members. Completed July 2011.
  • Development of key policies with regards to trainee progression, assessment and management.
  • Review and enhancement of uniform selection, training and assessment criteria and processes that also apply to overseas-trained specialists.
  • A review of accreditation standards for training sites in line with curriculum and training program structure.
  • Identification of curriculum evaluation criteria for both disciplines.
Organisational sustainability
  • Exploring opportunities for greater interaction and efficiencies in structures and activities between the two disciplines, including the continuation of cross-discipline meetings held three times a year.

Cutting edge technology
  • Implementation of a RANZCR Learning Portal as a 'one stop shop' for all things learning within the College.
  • Implementation of CPD online.
  • Implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) to support learning and house educational resources and e-learning modules.
  • Implementation of a Trainee Information Management System (TIMS) to track trainees’ progress through assessments.
  • Implementation of a new website. Completed April 2011.
  • Implementation of databanks for: radiology multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and radiation oncology pathology exam questions.
  • Research and potentially the implementation of a radiology DICOM image library for examination purposes.
  • Implementation of radiology Part 2 e-exams.
  • Develop and implement a radiation oncology e-Case Library.
  • Implementation of e-learning including online modules for Evidence Based Medicine (EBM). Completed February 2011.
