Following the results of numerous international and national trials, the use of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) in clinical radiology is gaining momentum, as an adjunct and potential replacement of standard 2D mammography for breast imaging in symptomatic women, and in breast cancer screening in asymptomatic women. This paper explains the technologies, use of both and the relative advantages of DBT for certain clinical presentations.
