Home CPD Overview Why CPD?

Why CPD?

From 1 July, 2010, it is mandatory for all “medical practitioners…to participate regularly in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)…in order to maintain, develop, update and enhance their knowledge, skills and performance to ensure that they deliver appropriate and safe care”. Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

But that’s not all…

It is continuing, because learning never ceases, regardless of age or seniority. It is professional, because it is focused on professional competence in a professional role. It is concerned with development, because its goal is to improve personal performance and personal mastery and may enhance career progression.
